Memories of violence or memory violences? Human rights, violence and gender in Informe Final (Peru)

Abstract

This article explores and problematizes the representations of gender violence in the reporto f the Truth and Reconcilitation Commission (CVR) in Peru, considering this report as a device of truth produced in a contexto of post-armed conflicto, a context that meant various difficulties and tensions generated by the construction of a national and univocal historical narrative. For this, the article Will characterize the way of conceptualizing this type of violence in the Informe Final, on the other hand, this article Will identify the memories that emerged and stressed the institutional narrative of the CVR, fosuing on two cases: (1) forced sterilizations against women between 1996 and 2001; (2) the construction of memories from LGBTQIA+ community, where the Informe Final does mention some cases, but without deepening or reflecting on this type of violence.
