Abstract

Nietzsche's criticism on Christianity, especially in his later work, is based, among other things, on the inversion of values carried out by the priestly lineage, in which everything linked to the aristocracy, and originally judged to be good, was finally considered to be bad. Behind this intervention by the priests, there was a deception aimed at imposing their way of acting over that of the nobility. Could this first deception, applied in the first instance on the priests themselves, be considered as a form of self-deception? And, if so, what kind of self-deception would it correspond to? The aim of this paper is to give a positive answer to these questions.
