Abstract

The recent studies on Spanish American economics and independences have returned to the topic interest and centrality in the debates, lost by its predecessors, questioned by the current trend in the last decades, which discusses generalist and teleological approaches, the role of the revolutions in the changes and the economics explanations of the History, and by defects in their formulations; they had sough in the countries origin and colonial heritage determinants of its lather difficulties of backwardness and inequities. The new studies prioritizes the exploration of the economic processes that were occurring in the time of independences, their interaction and regional and local variations, and it has generated a wealth of knowledge, still insufficient and fragmented, which requires synthesis and balance sheets, as proposed this article.
