Academic frontiers and epistemic status of anthropology in Gustavo Bueno

Authors

Abstract

The work presented here reconstructs Gustavo Bueno's critique of anthropology as a science, aiming to demonstrate its limited epistemological status from a philosophical perspective. To achieve this, an analysis of Bueno's work is conducted, placing it within the framework of his theoretical system known as philosophical materialism. Additionally, the study examines its connection with the institutional history of both disciplines, starting from the late Francoist period. Utilizing the methodology of sociology of philosophy, it will be demonstrated that Bueno's arguments go beyond mere epistemological interest, also functioning as positions concerning institutional and political aspects.
