Abstract

In this paper we study a group of words of the Taino language (Antillian's Arawak) and its influence over the Spanish language, from the beginning of the conquest. This topic has a special interest for the historical understanding of the Spanish language in America. This because the subject matter goes back up to sixteenth century. It is based on the testimonial value of Fray Bartolomé de la Casas' s chronical work.
