Guided by the pedagogical concern of the teaching of law, this article addresses the problem of the conceptualization and application of comprehensive lawyer training. We propose to center the possibility of this comprehensive formation in the language, under the concept of professional language that would be seen, from a pragmatic vision, as a public, cultural and historical act that concentrates the knowledge of the guild (Hortal 2002). Immediately, one can see the relevance and advantages that arise from seeing in classical rhetoric, taking up authors such as Isocrates, Quintiliano and Cicero, a pedagogy of legal professional language. From the rhetoric, the formation of the professional language of the lawyer would focus on the production of legal discourse, which would be addressed in different dimensions that include the structure of the discourse, the process of developing the discourse and the forms of persuasion displayed by the rhetorical act: ethos, pathos and logos. These elements would support a comprehensive training of the lawyer for the use of language in oral trials.
