Intensive courses - or summer courses, as they are also known - have a long tradition in higher education and constitute a training modality that is implemented in a short period of time, usually in an exclusive modality, generally in inter-semesters, providing new learning opportunities and increasing the efficiency of time use, with the aim of favouring the curricular progression of students who have failed or have not taken a subject in a timely manner. This study reports on the experience of implementing two intensive courses in the Law degree course at UC Temuco in the framework of project 1801: "New strategies for the improvement of the academic results of students with free tuition in critical disciplinary courses of the intermediate and terminal cycles". In this context, the experience of design, implementation and evaluation of the intensive courses is reviewed and presented, considering the perceptions of academics, students and the results obtained, with the aim of academically systematising the new strategies developed, to promote the institutionalisation of the changes and to facilitate the reproduction of the experience in other universities.
