Abstract

This research approaches the composition and characteristics of law master programs in Ecuador. It pretends to identify the areas not treated by the law master offer, even though their relevance in professional law practice requires being the object of studies at the graduate level. The research analyses official information on Law master’s degree programs offered in the country and seeks to understand their current status through expert focus groups. The information obtained shows a high concentration of law master programs in the Public Law field instead a low presence in the Private and Social Law fields. Although, advanced training in these fields is necessary to develop capacities in areas where the trials are frequent and are related to fundamental rights.
