Vicissitudes of doctorates in a country of doctors: The quality of law doctorates in Colombia

Abstract

The research problem addressed in this work consists of establishing which are the high-quality doctoral programs in law in Colombia, according to the evaluation that was undertaken in this regard. For this purpose, ten indicators were prepared as instruments for weighting and quality analysis. The application of such instruments constitutes a specialized methodology in the evaluation of doctoral programs. The results of the evaluation and the methodology would be contributions to knowledge in the field of higher education. Regarding the final product of the evaluation carried out, the research determined that several doctoral programs enjoy high quality, since they are of academic excellence and they positively acquit most of the indicators used as evaluation instruments.
