This theoretical inquiry will reflect on the place of ethics in legal culture and education. The hypothesis I will sustain is that it is necessary to appraise the value of ethics and understand the central value it plays in the legal culture and in professional training beyond its mere inclusion as a course in the training program or the addition of the subject in various training lines. Consequently, this theoretical inquiry aims to demystify the idea that, in order to address the current problems associated with the practice of the legal profession, the entry and exit door is «ethics»: it seeks to explore the role that ethics plays in legal training as well as in its diverse and daily practice in an accurate way in order to avoid two possible paths: on the one hand, that of the ascetic, who with faith centralizes the solution to the problem in ethical curricular training and in the tools of guild control; on the other hand, that of the hypocrite, who applauds the ascetic's solution, knowing that this is not the crux of the matter.
