Abstract

During the period 2000-2014 in Mexico, there has been an exponential growth in the number of graduates of bachelor’s degrees in law –in their various denominations. This growth brought along the emergence of complexities in the integration of all of them into the labour market and decent working conditions. This paper proposes the thesis that the actual problem of this phenomenon is not the proliferation of legal professionals in Mexico, but the intention of most of them to be employed in the same work fields and to perform in the same disciplinary areas. This situation calls for a reconfiguration of the curricula of Mexico’s universities. Particularly, those universities in the northern region of the country which are the focus of this work. Given their geographical, contextual and relevant situation, these Northern universities could find in the thematic line of Law and Migration an emergent response to the complexities mentioned above.
